Decolonizing the Art: on 5th April  2021 the California State University, Sacramento Art Department invites to a conference on "Looted Art and Postcolonial Justice - Decolonizing the Artfree registration here:
The Sacramento State’s Festival of the Arts is to hold its  Seventeenth Annual Art History Symposium. This symposium is held in an online format and is dedicated to discuss repatriation struggles across the globe. Recently calls for repatriation of African Art have gained more momentum. The museum scene in the Film Black Panther, plans for a new Museum of West African Art in Nigeria, more and more calls for repatriation of Art have put museums under greater public scrutiny.
The speakers of the event, Dr. Ndubuisi C. Ezeluomba (Françoise Billion Richardson Curator of African Art, New Orleans Museum of Art) and Dr. Boreth Ly (Associate Professor, University of California, Santa Cruz) will focus on artworks from West Africa, Cambodia, and beyond that have been at the center of repatriation struggles. The lively discussion will ask: what should museums do with looted art objects? How do we reimagine these profoundly colonial institutions?

The event is sponsored by the CSU Sacramento College of Arts and Letters and the OneWorld Initiative.
Date and Time: Apr 5, 2021 05:30 PM in Pacific Time (US and Canada)
